“There are as many forms of love as there are moments in time.”
Edmund Bertram – Mansfield Park directed by Patricia Rozema 1999
Mansfield Park is a tribute to my dad, who was born in Mansfield Massachusetts. My grandmother worked at a chocolate factory. No wonder why I love chocolate so much! My dad told me that she would bring home huge bars of chocolate. My grandfather worked for the railroad.
After moving to New Bedford, when my dad was little, they settled in the south end, where my grandmother worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and my grandfather owned his own bar.
Before my dad met my mother, he was a golden glove boxer. He had huge hands, and fingers. He had this huge ruby birthstone ring that I liked to try on all the time. It was a little too big for my tiny fingers.
Every time it snowed, my dad would make a snowman with me and we’d have a snowball fight. He took me ice skating, bowling, even fishing. I didn’t like to touch the worm though. We always went for ice cream even in the winter, and my dad always ate everything I made in my easy bake oven.
I have so many wonderful memories. I will always treasure every moment I had with my dad.
