Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to Raven Hill Pottery
I am a small batch potter and make everything myself,
one piece at a time. I will not be taking any orders at this time.
Shipping
I offer free shipping to the Continental United States. If you’d like me to ship internationally, please contact me before purchasing, so I can add the extra shipping cost.
Everything over 13 ounces is shipped Priority Mail. If it’s less than 13 ounces it will be shipped first class mail through the USPS. And USPS parcel post for heavier, larger packages.
Insurance protection will be on all orders…shipped priority mail, and on larger packages. Please allow 3-14 days for delivery, from the day it’s shipped. If it’s shipped Priority Mail it shouldn’t take more than 3 days. If it’s a large heavy package, going parcel post, it could take up to 14 days, depending on where it’s going. But hopefully not.
I am not responsible for lost or stolen packages.
I am not responsible for returned packages due to customer absence, errors in shipping addresses or package refusal.
Shipping charges will be applied for reshipped packages.
If expedited shipping is required you will be responsible for an additional shipping fee applied to your order.
I do not ship to PO Boxes – a street address is required for shipping.
Returns
I consider all sales final, unless your order was damaged during shipping. I don’t use stock photos. The photos are of the item you are purchasing. Everything is ready to ship.
Please open and inspect your order upon receipt. If your order arrives damaged due to shipment, report the damages to me ASAP. I will replace it, at no additional charge.
Please provide me with digital photos of the broken pottery and packing material for insurance purposes. Include your name, address and the name of the item you purchased in the email.
Keep the item and the packaging material until notified.
I will handle the claim and send a replacement to you free of charge as soon as possible.
Clay/Glazes/Food Safety:
All of my pottery is made from high quality stoneware and porcelain. Since each piece is made, one piece at a time, and glazed by hand you may find slight imperfections. Although, I’m really picky and tend to sell pieces with imperfections as a second sale. All of my items are glazed with lead free, food-safe glazes. On items that are decorative, like bottles, and vases. I may use a glaze or a glaze combination that is not recommended for food. I will state that in the item description, if that’s the case.
Color may vary due to monitor differences, and photography lighting.
Recommended Care:
My pottery is dishwasher safe, and microwave safe unless otherwise noted. Although you may want to hand wash it, to keep it looking brand new. It will prolong the life of your pottery. With highly textured pieces, I would recommend taking a fine brush and brushing those areas to make sure no food is left behind. Stubborn stains and metal marks from silverware (though not common) can be easily removed with baking soda mixed with a bit of warm water. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponges work well.
Do not expose the pottery to dramatic shifts in temperature. Allow for gradual change in temperature.
Enjoy and Use:
Pottery should be used and enjoyed every day, from your morning coffee or tea, to your late-night snack.
Feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.
