I was going through my old photos, and stumbled across some photos of bottles and vases I made a long time ago. I forgot all about these! These photos are of bisque fired pieces (they hadn’t been glazed yet.) Now I really want to make some new ones!
I love making sassy handles!
I love this handle!
I love the shape of this one, and the handle! I’m really looking forward to making more of these. I’m planning on experimenting with different glazes, and doing some glaze combinations to see what kind of effects I’ll be able to achieve. It should be interesting!
This one is still in it’s bisque form. I haven’t decided what glaze to use on it, or maybe I’m just too afraid to glaze it. I just don’t know what to do with it yet! I think I’ll make mini versions of this, and test some glazes out on the little ones first. I think that’s a good idea!
What colors do you think I should make the new ones in?
What are your favorite colors?
I love the handles also! Since I am a gardener, I love vases, and I love the loops and scrolls that look like twining stems to me! All I’d need to do is pop in a flower! this time of year, I’d fill the bottles with daffocils, so I’d love white or blue maybe to help show off fthe bright yellow! When my lillies begin to bloom, they are in hot colors mostly, orange, yellow and red, so I love pulling out my red, yellow and bright blue vases to put the stems in , it screams summertime with, all the bright colors, I think. Thise are gorgeous! Helen
Thank you Helen! Yes, white would work for all flowers even white ones, and blue would look really nice with yellow, I love daffodils! I use to garden, haven’t done it in a while though. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
Hi… Loved it. Wow, you sure are talented. Beautiful work. I know it might sound tacky, but how about purple or maroon for your next vase?
Thank you so much! It’s not tacky at all. I really like purple. I’ve been looking for a beautiful purple glaze for many years. However, purple is a difficult color to achieve. I’ll keep looking though. I think I have a glaze that you could call maroon, it’s sort of a burgundy color with specks, it’s called Deep Firebrick Red. I’ll be posting about that color in my “P” post for Potters Choice Deep Firebrick Red, so you’ll be able to see the color. 🙂
Wow, i’ll look forward to it… 🙂 Yes, i know it’s tough color to achieve, but the thought of it and how it would look like just gives me goosebumps. That looks quite intense 🙂
Thank you! I’m going to keep looking, I love purple. You might like my next post, it’s called Glaze Combinations. Very interesting colors, if they work. I’ll have to test them and see! 🙂
Wow, i’ll check it out…
Thanks Lance! 🙂
Sorry to sound like an echo – yes, those handles are simply gorgeous! I like colour but when the shape is so lovely and those handles certainly are, I’d be inclined go for a more subdued shade. D
Thank you D! I’m so glad you like them. Now that you mention it, I think some white ones will be nice and cream too.
