Necklaces

These leaf pendant necklaces came out really nice!

This one was glazed in…Shino by Coyote

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As you can see from this photo…each leaf glazed in Shino comes out different, even when they’re fired in the same glaze firing, and even when they’re on the same shelf. So, each one is unique and different.

Here’s another view

This oval pendant necklace has a handmade bead. I’m not sure if I’ll make beads again. I don’t mind making them, but glazing something that small is not fun!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s one with a different design.

These were glazed with the same glaze…Bronze Patina by Duncan. This glaze comes out different from piece to piece also.

This round textured pendant was glazed with Bronze Patina by Duncan also. This glaze does very interesting things with texture.

They came out nice!

I’m not sure if I’ll continue making the oval and round pendants?

I might just make the leaf pendants.

Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake2

Several months ago, I decided to create a new line of handmade dinnerware called “The Lake House Collection.” So far, there are 5 different designs, each with their own name.

Mirror Lake…which actually use to be called Brooklawn Park, is now part of The Lake House Collection. I think the swirling leaf design (reminiscent of reflected leaves in the swirling water) fits better in this collection.

Echo Lake…will be dinnerware with no texture, in the same colors as Mirror Lake. I’m thinking about putting the swirling leaf design on the bottom of the plates, but I’m not sure yet. We’ll see how it goes.

Mystic Lake…will be all about the glaze. I’ll be experimenting with glaze combinations and hopefully I’ll be able to make some magic!

Shadow Lake…will have some kind of leaf design, not sure yet though. It might be a little more moody and darker in color? I still have to figure this one out.

Sunset Lake…will be autumn colors, with and without texture.

The names I choose for the collection, are names of real lakes in Massachusetts, where I’m from. I thought it would be really nice to name them after real lakes.

I’m really looking forward to making this collection.

Leaf Ornaments and Magnets

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love leaves, I don’t know why? I just do!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I like using scraps of clay to make leaves. It’s a great way to use up those bits of clay that you really can’t do anything else with.

A friend asked me if I could make these.

Thanks Patricia, it was a great idea!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I can’t wait to glaze these!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I really like these!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

More new oak leaves, I call them fancy leaf ornaments.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I can’t wait to try out some glazes on these!

What do you think?

Kiln

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is my kiln…Charlotte Skutt. Yes, I named my kiln, and I think it’s cute!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s a little peek inside!

Usually I’m so busy loading my kiln, I forget to take photos. Then when I’m done, I remember. “Shoot, I should have taken photos!” Then one day, I finally remembered, and I’m so glad I did!

Hopefully I’ll remember to take photos more often.

I start with the largest items first.

The next row is done.

More goodies ready to load.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I had a lot of ornaments in this load.

One more row, and then I’m done.

Had some room for some test tiles.

Time to fire it up!

Jugs by Mitchell Grafton

Mitchell Grafton

I’m participating in the Blogging From A to Z April 2015 Challenge.

I needed a post for “J” and all I could think of was…Jugs! So, I’m showcasing these amazing, fantastic face jugs made by Mitchell Grafton. There are so many awesome ones to choose from. Here are some of my favorites.

I love this one!

Hmmm…I wonder if he would make one with a raven?

Inspiration

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I added a quote by Pablo Picasso to one of my photos. It’s so perfect together. A bag of clay, pottery tools and a dirty wire tool, just used. I love this quote, it’s so true…at least for me.

Inspiration is something that makes someone want to do something. It gives someone an idea about what to do or create. It’s a force or influence that inspires someone.

A person, place, experience, etc…that makes someone want to do or create something.

A good idea.

I begin with an idea

This is so true. Sometimes the clay takes over, and I end up making something totally different then what I had planned on making. But that’s okay!

by doing what you love

I love this quote!

Hearts

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I like making heart dishes!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I always have pieces of clay leftover when I make dinnerware. I’m not about to smash it together and re-wedge it! So, making heart dishes, leaf dishes, and ornaments with the leftover clay, is a great way to use up all those little bits and pieces. And people seem to really like heart dishes.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I took this photo right after I made these. They hadn’t been cleaned yet. Now, they’re bisque fired and waiting to be glazed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love these! Can’t wait to make more!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ll have to make more of these, especially for Valentine’s Day!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These are so pretty and they sell really well.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These really sell well, too! I don’t think I have any of these left?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These came out cute!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have several of these, but only glazed one of them so far.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I think I might want to try some of those glaze combinations from yesterday’s post on these plain hearts. I might get some good results. We’ll see!

http://ravenhillpottery.com/2015/04/08/glaze-combinations/

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I think these came out super cute! What do you think? I really wanted to glaze them, but right when I was about to do that, I found out we had to move…sooner then I thought. So, all production stopped. I really should start packing, but I’ve been procrastinating. Leave it to me to wait for the last-minute!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These are very special heart dishes, made from my husband’s grandmother’s Portuguese Lace. I did a blog post about them on blogspot awhile ago. I guess I should re-do it on WordPress. Oh, that might be my “P” post…good idea!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And here they are…in my kiln.
